What I Offer

I offer a safe, comfortable space within my home to greet clients. My house overlooks the sea and is one of a terraced row of houses with off street parking. Anonymity is preserved as the area is quite private.

I also provide telephone counselling in situations where clients are house bound or disabled or unable to attend for other reasons.

My clients come from all walks of life. I match client needs with the broad skills I have learnt in my own life, following training in both counselling and therapy and in managing, supervising and training staff.

I aim for cure. I seek to establish a mutually agreed contract for change and work towards this.

I work to a professional standard and am accredited with BACP and have a Diploma in Transactional Analysis. I am a registered Addictions Counsellor and have completed a training course in Supervision. I am bound by the BACP and Transactional Analysis Code of Ethics . I follow a strict code of confidentiality for the work I do. If you attend for therapy you can be confident that I have the relevant training and expertise to do my job. I attend regular supervision and undertake ongoing personal development through training etc.

I work with a broad spectrum of clients but specialise in working with:

  • Couples
  • Families
  • Anxiety
  • Addictions including gambling and porn
  • Depression
  • Low self esteem
  • Stress including stress in the workplace
  • Anger Management
Sometimes it is difficult to separate one issue from another. For example problems at work can lead to problems at home. Anxiety can lead to low self esteem and so on.

Couples attend for many reasons. After an affair, when arguments lead to
ongoing resentments, through jealousy or when couples develop an unhealthy
way of communicating with one another.
So many times I hear, “If only we had come sooner, before we grew so
distant from each other…..,”.

Family problems can escalate to the point that communication breaks down and conflict erodes relationships. It can be beneficial for families to attend and for each member to given the opportunity to be heard in an atmosphere of mutual respect. As a neutral observer I can identify ways to improve communication and can mediate where necessary.

Addictions cover a multitude of issues and I have years of experience in this field.

Stress in the Workplace

Having been a Manager for many years I have experience of stress in the workplace and understand how difficult it can be to find a work/life balance and cope with difficulties which arise in the workplace. Our happiness at work has a great impact on our overall well-being and mental health and cannot be underestimated.

Anger Management

Anger often protects our fears. I have a number of tools I use to assist clients manage their anger.
