Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need? It is difficult to quantify how many sessions are required. Initially sessions are best offered on a weekly basis. Thereafter at mutually agreed times dependant on progress.

How long does each session last? Each session lasts 50 minutes, unless contracted for longer.

When will I pay? The fee is payable at the end of each session.

Homework or Reading Material? As well as attending for counselling frequently I will ask clients to provide examples of how they are practicing the skills they learn in therapy. Some reading material may be given or suggested.

Ending Sessions Clients are free to end their counselling whenever they wish but I do remind clients that therapy may not be an easy option and it is important to commit to the process even if it feels uncomfortable at times.

Can My Partner Attend for therapy after I have Commenced Work With you? It can be beneficial to include partners if a relationship is in difficulty. The contract will have to be changed and mutually agreed before couple therapy begins.

Can I trust that everything I say to you will be confidential? Yes. I am bound by the BACP strict code of ethics. However, confidentiality will not be preserved if you are in danger of harming yourself or others, or are involved in criminal activity. In such incidences I would contact your GP or relevant authorities.

Home Visits In exceptional circumstances home visits may be provided.
